Dogs Steal the Spotlight at CatWalk FurBaby New York Fashion Week

In a glamorous display of fashion and compassion, the CatWalk FurBaby event stole the limelight at New York Fashion Week, showcasing an innovative blend of style and charity. The second annual CatWalk FurBaby runway, a collaborative effort by Elysian Impact and spearheaded by New York Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis, unfolded at Sony Hall during the NYFW Runway 7 shows.

The event, held in 2024, not only celebrated the latest trends but also championed diverse charitable causes. Among the distinguished guests were actress Alexandra Daddario from “White Lotus” and former supermodel Carol Alt, adding to the star-studded affair.

This year’s CatWalk FurBaby event shone a spotlight on Elysian Impact’s core focus areas, including women, children, pets, public service, and the environment. Collaborating with organizations like Operation Kindness, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, and the American Red Cross, models, designers, and pet influencers graced the runway, competing for coveted cash prizes across three categories: People’s Choice, Publisher’s Pick, and Judges’ Pick.

The runway dazzled with designs from big names in the fashion industry such as Nicole Miller, Tommy Hilfiger, D’Marsh Couture, and renowned “Project Runway” alum Johnathan Kayne. Noteworthy moments included DJ and singer Chloe Jane, Tommy Hilfiger’s goddaughter, strutting in a Tommy Hilfiger creation, while actress Loretta Swit elegantly showcased Johnathan Kayne’s designs.

The event witnessed 20 teams vying for top honors, with standout performances from Louisiana’s Companion Animal Alliance in collaboration with Queen of Sparkles and designer Jaime Glas Odom, clinching the People’s Choice award. Texas’ Operation Kindness, alongside D’Marsh Couture and model Gia Skova, emerged victorious in the Publisher’s Pick category. New York’s NYC Second Chance Rescue, Nicole Miller, Canine Cashmere, and model Rachel Donohue impressed the judges and secured the Judges’ Pick accolade.

Last year, the inaugural CatWalk FurBaby event supported the Bissell Pet Foundation, a national organization dedicated to eradicating pet homelessness. Notable designers who participated in the event included Malan Breton, Gina Roberts, Marc Bouwer, and other renowned names, all contributing their talents to dress both models and their furry companions.

The CatWalk FurBaby event not only showcased the latest trends in dog fashion but also highlighted the compassion and generosity of the fashion industry towards charitable causes. As dogs stole the spotlight on the runway, it was a heartwarming blend of style and purpose that left a lasting impression on attendees and participants alike.
